Another World Awaits You
The pandemic we have found ourselves in has confirmed what I already learned when I was a child: nothing is better than escaping to a fantasy world when the world you find yourself in is unacceptable.
Didn’t everyone experience that when we read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe? Narnia was a place where children who were out of place in the world they lived in found a home that far surpassed their internal desire to belong.
I was leaving the world of COVID-19 behind as I finished my first novel this year — a novel I started in November 2019 and worked on throughout these past nine months of 2020 — through several drafts, until I called it done this month. My beta reader cried when it was over, which gives me great hope that the story I’ve written will touch someone, if not many someones.
I’m now starting the process of querying. If I thought writing was hard, and editing was challenging, querying is something else altogether. THIS is why I’m not in sales. And this is also what separates agented authors from unagented authors. I desire to be in the former category, so I am doing the work.
I am doing the work.
